Situated on the ancestral homeland of the Tongva Peoples, Chaffey
College is one of the oldest community colleges in California and
serves a variety of communities, workforce partners, and students.
While other community colleges are often named after their
geographic area, Chaffey College is named after local innovator,
George Chaffey, who, among other things, implemented street lights
in the city of Ontario. Like its namesake, we are known for an

Chaffey College celebrates the diverse communities we serve. As a
federally recognized Hispanic Serving Institution (HSI) Chaffey's
student population includes over 64% identifying as Latinx, 13%
White, 7% African-American/Black, 6% Asian, multi-racial/other (5%)
and smaller percentages of Filipino and Pacific Islanders (2%),
Native American (0.40%), or decline to state (2.6%). Furthermore,
40% of our students are first-generation college students, and
approximately 62% of students are eligible for some form of
financial aid. The current student population identifies as 59%
female and 38% male with approximately 3% who either decline to
state or identify as nonbinary. Approximately 5% of Chaffey's
students utilize Disabled Programs and Services for support. To
support the diverse needs of these populations and their
intersections, the College has developed a variety of robust
equity-driven efforts including the President's Equity Council,
Center for Culture and Social Justice, Panther Care, Rising
Scholars, PRISM, Puente Project, UMOJA, EOPS/CARE, Disabled
Programs and Services, and CalWORKs.
Under direction, responsible for leadership, direction, planning,
organizing, evaluating, and supervising Student Health Programs for
the Chaffey Community College District. This is a professional and
licensed position. It requires a high level of professional
achievement, knowledge, and supervisory ability in the field of
healthcare delivery, professional nursing, and student health.
Responsibilities
Provides leadership in the areas of physical and mental health care
delivery for students, faculty, and staff.
Plans, develops, coordinates, administers, and evaluates services
and programs relevant to Student Health Services.
Directs and manages the Department of Health Services for the
District.
Provides medical services in accordance with local, state, and
federal regulations to students, faculty, and staff in accordance
with standardized procedures. Provides leadership, planning,
direction, and evaluation of college health programs.
Plans, develops, administers, and coordinates the provision of
Student Health Services Center programs.
Directs and manages the Department of Health Services for the
District.
Ensures compliance with federal, state, local, and professional
standards, regulations, procedures, and practices.
Hires, supervises, and evaluates health services personnel.
Maintains technological currency.
Promotes the professional development of staff.
Evaluates the quality and effectiveness of programs and
services.
Drafts, recommends, and administers policies and procedures;
provides input into District policies and procedures with potential
implications for students, faculty, and staff; and, become an
active member of selected campus-wide committees.
Accesses educational trends and their implications for Student
Health Services activities.
Analyzes health services-related legislation and discuss impact on
Chaffey College Student Health Services for the vice president.
Oversees Student Health/Accident Insurance programs.
Supervises and coordinates initial incident reporting and workers
compensation filing for District employees with job related
injuries.
Develops, implements, and manages the operating budget of the
department and make recommendations for budgetary inclusions and
priorities; reviews and approves requisitions for monies, services,
facilities, and staff for Student Health Services.
Maintains tracking systems for monitoring services provided to the
students.
Attends professional conferences, seminars, and workshops related
to Student Health Services to maintain professional licensure,
currency in the field, and medical services treatment updates.
Plans, develops, administers, and manages direct health services to
students. Establishes standards of patient care with standardized
procedures and performs within scope of practice; reviews charting,
updates and develops health education materials; and ensures
delivery of high quality nursing and medical care.
Supervises and facilitates/coordinates delivery of emergent and
routine medical services for student and staff.
Provides crisis intervention for student, faculty, and staff.
Automated early defibrillation/public access defibrillation program
(AED) coordinator. Functions as college liaison with local fire
department for the program. Reports use of AED to physician of
record and to the local EMS agency, and conducts debriefing
meetings to provide support for those involved. Maintains quality
assurance records, including test, maintenance, and training
records according to the guidelines set forth by the AED
manufacturer, American Heart Association, and Red Cross as provided
annually from department managers.
Designated health care professional for the college in accordance
with Chaffey College Bloodborne Pathogens program and CAL-OSHA
standard 8, Chapter 4. Serves as custodian of medical records of
employee immunization, exposure, and post-exposure evaluation and
follow up in accordance with confidentiality standards. Responsible
for annually reviewing the Occupational Exposure to Bloodborne
Pathogens Control Plan, its effectiveness, and for updating the
program whenever needed to reflect new or modified tasks and
procedures which affect occupational exposure, new or revised
employee positions with occupational exposure, and to review the
exposure incidents which occurred since the previous update.
Supervises and evaluates department staff; administers collective
bargaining agreements (CSEA and CCFA); processes and adjusts
grievances where appropriate; evaluates staff in accordance with
established practice and college standards; administers
"progressive discipline" with established standards; provides input
regarding contract negotiations; makes recommendations relative to
Student Health Services staff wages, hours, and working conditions;
recommends revisions to staff job descriptions and assignments.
Qualifications
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
Valid, current California license as a registered nurse, and either
of the following:
Master's degree in nursing AND a California Public Health Nurse
Certificate; OR
Bachelor's degree in nursing, a California Public Health Nurse
Certificate, AND a master's degree in health education, sociology,
psychology, counseling, health care administration, public health,
or community health.
A minimum of two years full-time recent acute care experience in
nursing.
Supervisory experience in a health care setting.
Demonstrated knowledge of current practices of nursing in college
health, industrial, or hospital staff nursing, or related
field.
Demonstrated operational knowledge of state and federal laws and
regulations governing college Health Services.
Demonstrated ability to work with students, faculty, and other
college staff as part of a team of health care specialists in a
community college setting.
Demonstrated expertise in program evaluation.
Current CPR card issued by the American Red Cross, American Heart
Association, or other recognized professional organization.
Current California Driver's license.
Demonstrated evidence of sensitivity to and understanding of the
diverse academic, socioeconomic, cultural, disability, gender
identity, sexual orientation, and ethnic backgrounds in a community
college environment.

DESIRABLE QUALIFICATIONS
Possession of a California nurse practitioner certificate.
Possession of a nurse practitioner furnishing number.
Demonstrated understanding of the health care delivery model in the
community college setting, as well as the unique health care needs
of the diverse student population.
Additional education and/or management experience.

SPECIAL CONDITIONS
Positions in this classification may be required to work varied
hours according to need. Malpractice insurance
licensing/certification fees and costs to obtain CEU's for
licensing shall be paid by the District.
CONDITIONS OF EMPLOYMENT
This is a full-time, 12-month management position, Range 24 of the
Management Personnel Plan. Effective date of employment will be as
soon as a successful candidate is selected and a mutually agreed
upon date is determined. Excellent benefits include: health care,

Being able and ready to work onsite at a Chaffey facility or

The Selection Process
A screening committee will conduct all minimum qualification
